San Clemente, California-a brief history of the City Beach California

San Clemente, California is one of the best beach cities in Southern California! Located right above Camp Pendelton
and Oceanside and just below Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano, this beach community is equally close to San Diego
in the south and Los Angeles to the north.

San Clemente perhaps best known for one of its most famous resident, 37th President of American Richard m. Nixon (1969-1974). Nixon has bought a Spanish Palace in the city in 1969, an event that suddenly thrust of the small community of fifteen square miles of coastline and scenic Foothills to the fore. When Nixon needed some rest and relaxation, his favorite refuge was his hacienda of Southern California. He may have spent more time at Camp David in Maryland over its five predecessors combined, but that is mainly due to its proximity to Washington, D.C. He has held numerous meetings at its historical County home, causing it to become known as "The Western Whitehouse."

With an average of 340 days of sunshine per year, who could blame the President Nixon to get close to the beautiful beaches of San Clemente and high-cliff, panoramic coast?

Strangely, a city with lots of sunshine, San Clemente, CA was founded by Mayor 33rd of Seattle, Washington, Ole Hanson (or maybe not so odd, considering Seattle he averaged 226 cloudy days a year). After being mayor in 1919 Hanson, has made an attempt to become the Republican nominee in 1920 and then head to California. Tired of politics or the rain-or both-Hanson purchased the land and built a community of 2,000 hectares designed to resemble a Spanish village.

Hanson named the city after San Clemente Island, which in turn, was named by Explorer Vizcaíno in 1602 after San Clemente, which was performed by being tied to an anchor and thrown overboard, and who is celebrated in the Catholic Church on 23 November, the day Vizcaíno arrived on San Clemente Island.
